Day 24 10-6

Ian, Cheng Hao, Kai Zhong, and Liang Ping set off at 5.15am for 石林山. It is a place hanging around the outskirts of Beijing, about 90km away. Thus, we need to leave early as it takes 4 hours to go there. We think that this would be the perfect time to explore these kinds of places as there may not be any opportunities to do so after this week's week-long holiday. After changing 3 subway trains and 2 busses, we arrived there at about 9.30-10am.

The Start

At the base, there was a theme park but we didn't go.We bought tickets for 39 Yuan before starting our ascend. It is 768m high, and at times the steps seemed never ending. The place was pretty crowded, with plenty of Chinese tourists. On our way up, we stopped at some places to admire the view and of course, took some pictures.

Beautiful Red Leaevs

A view which you can never get in Singapore

It's pretty foggy because it's just rained

It took us about 1 to 1.5 hours to get to the top. What's nice is that at the top, there's a glass bridge which overlooks the whole mountainous area, and the floor is made of glass, almost making our heart jump out of your mouth at times. The entrance ticket to the glass bridge was 20 Yuan. It feels so peaceful for us Singaporeans to go to places like these because back home, everything we see is buildings and man-made marvels. Also at the top were the 12 different Chinese zodiac.

The top, although it's not that high

At the peak, which is the glass bridge!

If you're wondering what is covering our shoes, they're shoe covers so that our shoes don't scratch the glass surface

The part which took the longest was the descend. On our way down, we took a different route. The thing about this place is that there are many routes for you to take. Whenever we were faced with a decision whether to take one route or another, we chose the longer route because we would want to see everything, and not leaving the place with regrets. The way down showed us a different form of scenery. This time, it wasn't about mountains or rivers, but more of forests, trees and the dense nature that it offers. With every longer route we chose, we felt tired but at the same time, we know that there'll be roasted goat's meat at the base, which is the reward. As much as one might think that walking down the stairs is easy, it is actually not and it is actually not good for the knee.

The type of views on our way down

What we've all been waiting for, 烤羊腿

We left the place at 3.45, reaching BTBU 4 hours later. On the ride back, we were all sleeping as exhaustion and fatigue got the better of us, but nevertheless, it was a great day, and something worth waking up at 5am for :)

Till next time, see you!

It's not about the end, but the journey
